Remembrance Day, to me, is a reminder that a group of people I’ll never know gave up their lives so I could live an easier one. Pretty sobering thought. I’m far from home right now, but was very proud to wear my poppy at work last week.

600,000 Canadian men and women were sent overseas in the first World War, and there are currently 3 remaining veterans. I encourage you to consider signing the petition for a state funeral when the last veteran dies, in honour of all Canadians who served in WWI.

To sign the petition visit http://www.dominion.ca/petition/.

I was planning on putting up a post about our Mount Rainier hike before leaving for the weekend, but I’ve got 5 minutes before we jet for the airport so all I’ve got time to say is…

Happy Canada Day!

You’re right Preya, feels weird being away from home for this! I can’t even remember the last time I missed Canada Day :(

But hey, I hear this place called San Francisco is pretty cool. Heard of it? We’re gonna go check it out this weekend and I’ll tell ya what I think.

Have a good one!

It’s definitely a happy time over here in Hyderabad. But being far from home, I should remember just why we enjoy the freedoms that we do.

May we never forget.

(Thanks for the reminder Ravi)
